I like to make records of my hive inspections digitally. So, I have used Google Docs in order to create myself a template for hive inspections.
You may use my template as well! Just click on the image to the left, or click here, to go Google Docs. Once you're there, pick between the 8 Frame or 10 Frame option. Then, to download you go to FILE > DOWNLOAD (download to your computer), or click MAKE A COPY (saves to your own Google Documents). You can then personalize the document however you wish, replace the image I've provided (of my own hive) with an image of your own, and change whatever colors you wish.
The table on the bottom right is to record locations of brood, honey, and what frames your bees are taking up.
You can either save it to your computer, save it to your Google Drive, or print it out and fill it in with a pen!
The Beekeeper's Handbook is currently the book that is used by the Oregon Master Beekeeping program. It's a decent book with lots of information regarding almost all aspects of beekeeping, from equipment needed all the way to products from the hive
Honey Bee Biology and Beekeeping is the second book that is recommended to get by the Oregon Master Beekeeping program once you get to the journeyman level. It is used by some universities for their Honey Bee Courses. It is a little bit more expensive and is more like a textbook.
